My programmes are all about support, focus and motivation. It doesn't matter if your personal goal is to lose weight, to improve your sporting performance, to build muscle or to tone and define your existing physique all clients go through the same initial process.
Before starting any of the exercise programmes I offer a FREE initial 1 hour consultation. This allows you to grasp fully what is involved with training and also allows me to assess your suitability for such a programme. During the consultation we will typically discuss current fitness levels and your fitness goals as well as performing fitness, lifestyle and health assessments. Please read below to find more detail.
This form allows you to consent to sharing personal details and also allows you to understand what to expect from training sessions and gives you the knowledge that during any session you may stop.
The health screening allows me to check that you are currently fit and healthy enough to embark on an exercise programme without referral from a doctor. Should anything crop up on the PAR-Q I will send a letter to your doctor asking for their consent for you to take part in the designed programme, along with a request for any recommendations they may have.
This form allows me to assess your previous exercise experience and your current fitness level as well as your lifestyle, family and work commitments and exercise preferences.
The fitness assessments allow me to assess your current level of fitness. Fitness is comprised of many elements. Depending on your goal, assessments may involve flexibility, muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness, posture and body composition. All clients will have weight, height, heart rate and blood pressure taken. Assessments will be repeated, usually every 4 weeks during review, to allow you to see the progress you have made. Monitoring of progress is essential for motivation and goal setting.
SMART Goal setting is a major part of the programme. Research shows that without setting a goal many people fail to achieve anything when working out. They limp along aimlessly, a vague idea of what they want to achieve, no plan on how to do it. Working with me, I will help you to set a long term goal based on your desired fitness objectives. I will then help you to break this down into smaller medium and short term goals to aid motivation and from this I will develop a personalised training programme to achieve your goals. Without a solid plan fitness objectives are simply wishes. I will take your wishes and turn them into results.
