Let's face facts, big box gyms are relatively dull, sweaty, souless places. Machines, dumbbells and rows of cardio machines, with little for visual stimulus aside from banks of flatscreen TVs. Designed with too few windows and too little natural light, disconnecting us, as humans, completely from our natural exercise environment.

Is it any wonder we struggle to go to the gym?

Scientific research, and to be honest, good old common sense, indicates that we have not evolved to workout in these characterless, unnatural boxes. Getting outdoors, or so called 'green exercise' has been demonstrated to significantly improve our mental health.

Given this, what if we thought about gym design differently and created a beautiful, green training space designed specifcally to boost physical and mental health? Inside | Out is such a space, a private 'green exercise' gym, nestled beneath trees on the outskirts of Meltham. Green, tranquil and bathed in natural light due to its large windows and bifold doors, Inside | Out allows you to train outdoors, in nature or have the convenience of an indoor sheltered area whilst still being surrounded by trees.

Green Exercise

Working outdoors, surrounded by nature and most notably immersed in vibrant greens, has been scientifically proven to boost your mental health beyond the benefits of training indoors disconnected from nature.

Sheltered Training

Working outdoors in the fresh air is just fantastic but in this country the weather is unpredicatable. When the weather turns bad Inside | Out still provides the opportunity to workout surrounded by nature whilst remaining sheltered.

Avoid Gymbarrassment

Working in a private gym is an absolutely fantastic way to start for people attending the gym for the first time or perhaps returning to fitness after a break. Going into a public gym can feel intimidating but you can avoid that feeling and gain confidence whilst you work to build your knowledge, fitness and strength in your very own space guided by an experienced personal trainer.

Fresh Clean Air

Working out in the fresh air is not a problem at Inside | Out. The bi-fold door which runs down one side of the gym is easily opened to keep you cool during workouts, providing the feel of an outdoor workout and plenty of fresh air while still having access to a wealth of gym equipment. The best of both worlds.

Inside | Out is a calm, peaceful space where providing you an enjoyable workout experience is my priority. I aim to give you the time and space to look after yourself not just physically but also mentally.

Clean & Socially Distanced

Unlike public gyms, Inside | Out is sanitised in between every client ensuring that the equipment that you use is clean and COVID-19 free. Working in a private gym also means that there are absolutely no issues with maintaining social distance.

Concept2 Industry Standard Rowing Machine

Test yourself mentally and physically, build full body stamina and strength with the best indoor rower on the market. The Concept2 rower uses every muscle in your body in a safe, functional, low impact workout that can utilise both aerobic and anaerobic energy pathways. Superb for burning fat and improving fitness levels.

Marcy Gym Racking System

The gym racking I have built into the gym allows me to work safely with clients performing squat exercises, bench presses, nordic curls and row movements. The racking also has a built in chin-up bar with multiple grip holds to provide the opportunity to build superb upper body strength, back and arm muscle development and toning as well us many core exercises.

Turbo Trainer

The turbo trainer allows you to perform cycle training inside. Similar to a spin bike the turbo trainer is used to train cardiovascular fitness and leg endurance. Using high intensity interval training (HIIT), Fartleks and Tabata on the turbo is an exceptionally efficient way to improve your fitness quickly.

Slamballs / Medicine Balls

Slamballs and medicine balls are a fantastic way to provide your body with a great functional workout. Moves performed with these weighted balls test your full body, work your core mucles and done correctly push your cardiovascular fitness levels to the max! Slamming these balls about is also quite fun, making workouts enjoyable and stress relieving.

Monkey Bars

If you are looking to build upper body strength, learn calisthenics or train for an obstacle race, mastering the monkey bars is essential. Despite them not being a feature at most local gyms I think the monkey bars are a valuable training tool, fun to use and empowering to master.

Battle Ropes

Battle ropes are again a fantastic full body workout. With a variety of moves to try they won't just work your arms but challenge your shoulders, back, chest, core and legs too. The ropes are low impact so fantastic for absolute beginners. An amazing cardio workout if used during HIIT training, fat burning, strength and endurance building as well as plain and simple fun!!

Kettlebells

Kettlebells are a great way to build all over strength, explosive power and core stability whilst burning fat and improving your cardiovascular fitness levels. Fantastic for beginners and advanced trainees alike.

Suspension Training System

Suspension training is absolutely brilliant for working every muscle in the body. It is such a flexible system that I have used it for absolute beginners to make exercises easier by providing support, with clients experiencing knee pain to reduce load or with advanced clients to challenge their core muscles and train balance. With an huge range of exercise options the suspension trainer is versatile piece of equipment with benefits for everyone.

Sanitised Toilet & Changing Area

Most gyms have shut their changing rooms in order to minimise the risk of covid-19 transmission. Inside | Out is a private gym which is sanitised between each client allowing me to keep a changing area and toilet open for your convenience.

Boxing & Padwork

If you want to get seriously fit, torch fat and relieve stress a boxing workout is perfect. Padwork boxing with your trainer is not available when social distancing measures are in place however a punch bag is available.

Bosu Ball

The Bosu ball is used to build balance and core strength.
